The Galleria Porta San Lazzaro is Piacenza's new retail complex, in its San Lazzaro district, created from the redevelopment of a long-disused industrial area.
The latest-generation building creates modern, luxurious interiors, providing the backdrop to about 50 stores and two internal restaurants.
The mall's design keynote is "natural", featuring the use materials such as glass, wood and stone, which create a luminous, welcoming ambience.
"The main idea was to create an environment where people would feel at home and which would encourage socialisation, bringing benefits such as making a part of the city more attractive and offering constantly changing activities in a centre which offers leisure activities to adults and children alike.
The characteristics of the FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti materials particularly suited to this context are the composition, which provides the elegance we were looking for, the quality of the material and its strength," explained Daniela Fugazza, the engineer who directed the works and headed the project in association with the architect Thomas Bartoli.

Amongst the material used, the external plaza features stones in various colours, Parana Beige, Parana Brown and Parana Grey, with which a distinctive water-jet motif was created, while the mall and toilets were paved with 12,000 m² of Polished and Pre-Polished Crema Marfil Select (60x60 and 60x30 cm sizes), Pietra di Viterbo (60x60 and 60x30 cm sizes), materials from the
