FONTI DEL CORALLO SHOPPING CENTER - Livorno - Italy

Studio: Lombardini22

FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti technical ceramics meet all the requirements of contemporary architecture and design in a versatile and functional manner.

Specifically, projects involving a constantly high number of guests and visitors enhance the natural characteristics of FMG products: from public spaces to shopping malls, as well as airports and various hospitality facilities.

In all these contexts, the distinguishing features of FMG’s technical porcelain stoneware surfaces, in terms of both floor and wall tiling, are resistance, unalterability, and ease of cleaning and maintenance, i.e. all the most common requirements.

The recent restyling of the Fonti del Corallo shopping mall, based on a project by the Lombardini22 studio in Milan, is aimed at achieving – also thanks to FMG’s customized coverings – “a new look, functional to user flow, aesthetically pleasing and attractive, contemporary yet informal”, where the focus is on aspects such as hospitality, comfort, expressiveness and domesticity.

The shopping mall gets its name from the nearby Terme del Corallo in Livorno. With numerous shops, and thanks to its central location and the quality of its services, Fonti del Corallo is a major shopping venue in the area, which also offers many entertainment and cultural events throughout the year.

FMG contributed to the overall design of the interiors of the shopping mall by supplying the bathroom wall cladding, made with Maxfine technical materials in Cluster Brown, and the floor cladding with the custom shade Stream of the full-bodied technical porcelain stoneware line.

In the latter case, custom materials were used, which give the space an original and distinctive look. In fact, it is coarse-grained, moka-colored porcelain stoneware, water-jet cut and with circular inserts in two shades of green, with a special thickness of 13 mm, suitable for heavy foot traffic.

The moka color is a modern take on floors inspired by the Roman mosaic technique used for floorings. While the Maxfine Cluster Brown wall cladding showcases the expressive power of FMG’s large-format technical porcelain stoneware, the floors feature an outstanding decorative component and natural two-tone green shades, which create a welcoming atmosphere in harmony with the bright open-plan space.
