What is FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti porcelain stoneware?
FMG porcelain stoneware is a latest generation ceramic material, obtained through a dry pressing and firing process at temperatures above 1200 °C. It is composed of a carefully selected mixture of natural raw materials – including clays, feldspars, kaolins and sands – which, thanks to sintering, give rise to an extremely compact, resistant and practically impermeable product. FMG porcelain stoneware surfaces offer high performance in terms of hardness, resistance to chemical agents, wear and tear and mechanical stress, making them ideal for both residential and commercial environments, indoors and outdoors.
What is FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti's Full Body³?
The term Full Body³ indicates an advanced porcelain stoneware technology in which the surface and material are homogeneous throughout the slab. This means that the aesthetic pattern-whether stone, marble or granite effect-extends throughout the entire depth of the material, guaranteeing unsurpassed visual and structural continuity.
Why is this important?
- Aesthetic durability: it does not wear out, it does not scratch and in the event of any chipping, the internal body remains unchanged, maintaining its aesthetic and performance characteristics.
- Mechanical resistance: pressed under high pressure and fired at around 1300 °C, Full Body³ is particularly resistant to heavy loads, wear, abrasion and thermal stress.
- Versatile application: thanks to the absence of a separate surface layer, it is ideal not only for floor and wall coverings, but also for furniture, tops, bathroom furniture or tables, maintaining aesthetics and performance even in special creative processes.
What are FMG marbles, granites and stones?
FMG marbles, granites and stones are porcelain stoneware surfaces that faithfully reproduce the aesthetics of natural materials, such as marble, granite, stone or onyx, through advanced production technologies. These products are not only inspired by the natural appearance, but go beyond its functional limits, offering greater resistance, lightness, impermeability and ease of cleaning. The result is a surface that combines beauty and performance, designed to last and enhance any architectural context.
How is FMG surfaces cleaned?
For the daily maintenance of FMG surfaces, the use of warm water and neutral or alkaline non-aggressive detergents is sufficient. In heavily frequented areas, such as public or commercial spaces, the use of scrubbing machines with suction function is recommended. For textured or embossed surfaces, it is preferable to use soft brushes or cloths, following the direction of the decoration, and rinse thoroughly to avoid halos.
Is it necessary to waterproof FMG surfaces?
No, it is not necessary. FMG porcelain stoneware surfaces are already practically waterproof thanks to their compact and non-porous structure. They do not absorb liquids and do not need any additional treatment to be protected from stains or humidity, even in environments such as kitchens, bathrooms or outdoor areas.
Can FMG surfaces be sanded after laying?
Post-laying sanding is not recommended. FMG slabs are designed and manufactured with finishes already optimised for final use. Any sanding could compromise the aesthetic uniformity and reduce the technical performance of the surface, as well as make future replacement of individual elements more complex.
Do FMG polished surfaces require protective treatments?
No, no additional protective treatments are necessary. FMG polished surfaces are already non-absorbent and resistant to dirt and external agents. Normal cleaning with neutral products is sufficient to maintain shine and aesthetics over time.
Are FMG materials compatible with underfloor heating systems?
Yes, FMG porcelain stoneware is perfectly compatible with underfloor heating systems. Thanks to its high thermal conductivity and dimensional stability, it guarantees uniform heat distribution and maintains its characteristics unaltered even in the presence of thermal variations.
Are FMG surfaces also suitable for outdoor use?
Absolutely. FMG slabs are resistant to frost, UV rays, temperature changes, rain, fire and chemical agents. These properties make them ideal for outdoor flooring, ventilated facades, terraces, walkways and any other outdoor application, maintaining their aesthetic and functional qualities over time.
Are FMG products more expensive than natural materials?
Not necessarily. Considering the technical performance, durability, absence of extraordinary maintenance and high aesthetic yield, FMG products are a highly competitive solution compared to natural materials. They offer excellent value for money, especially in projects where reliable, sustainable and durable surfaces are required.
