FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti porcelain tiles have been used for the floors of the modern headquarters of historic German construction company Dechant in Weismain, Germany.
Established in 1881 and run by the Dechant family for generations, the company has been known as Dechant Hoch- und Ingenieurbau GmbH & Co. since 2011. It is a historic brand in the German construction sector (especially in the concrete sector), which has always given the same attention to both small and large-scale projects, with highly innovative ideas on planning and managing public spaces. Its many projects include the Bundestag (Federal Parliament) in Berlin, the Galileo Control Centre in Oberpfaffenhofen and the Masters' Houses in Dessau.
The choice of high quality, high-tech FMG porcelain for the headquarters in Weismain is part of the company’s overall mission, combining the finest aesthetic quality with avant-garde features: two characteristics that Dechant and FMG share.
As a result, FMG suggested 3 variations from the Roads collection for this prestigious project, Grey Calm, Dark Depth and Pearl Mind, to explore the potential of slabs inspired by earth, stone and concrete, all materials that are an integral part of Dechant’s company image.
The colours of the three modern collections recall urban buildings, in a range of grey shades with original speckling and light veining that create a luminous chiaroscuro effect.
There is a particularly striking open space with many stairs and corridors covered in Dark Depth slabs, which produce a special weathered effect and perfectly match the steel elements of the stairs.
