FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti’s gallery and showroom now have a new, bigger, more complex layout with completely new design and interiors.
Opened in 2007 at Via Bergognone 27 in Milan, SpazioFMG is the place where architecture meets the city, where professionals from all over the world meet to talk about current issues in the discipline and in society.
Ever since it was first conceived, on the basis of the convictions and philosophy of FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti brands, SpazioFMG per l’architettura has declared its mission of promoting awareness of issues related to environmental sustainability in the trade and among the public, with the aim of making complex concepts, methods and synergies a common heritage.
With this background, the gallery also became the home of the Floornature.com architecture portal, allowing ideas and suggestions received locally to be merged with those received over the internet and through the new media. The gallery’s new exhibition layout underlines this point of arrival and the opening of new exhibition projects in collaboration with Floornature.com.
The gallery’s cultural programme, organised by architect Luca Molinari, includes exhibitions, conferences and debates about architecture and social and cultural issues received and shared over the internet. SpazioFMG per l’architettura thus becomes a physical location in which to meet people who work in the field of design, curators and critics from all over the world.
The two souls of design live side by side here, on separate levels: a vast exhibition space on the ground floor, where visitors come in from the street; and on the underground level, linked by a big open staircase, a showroom for the FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti catalogues of floor and wall coverings. This versatile, brightly lit gallery has multimedia equipment to support discussion of issues with images. Four windows on the street improve visibility and announce the gallery’s mission as a place for discussion, meeting and sharing.
