What nature has created over geological eras of hundreds of thousands of years, FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti is able to manufacture in just a few hours thanks to a processing cycle very similar to that of nature.
Iris group, of which FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti is part, controls the most important Italian mining company. This guarantees constant supplies and absolute quality of the raw materials. The kaolin, quartz, feldspar and other materials are mined in absolute respect of the environment and of the hydrogeologic balance, carefully restoring vegetation. The raw materials are dispensed and mixed, then exhaustively wet-milled by large mills to be transformed into a smooth liquid compound. Very fine powders are obtained in the following atomising process that are stored in large silos. The computerised electronic system right throughout the production process controls how the powders are used and dispensed.
The appropriately mixed powders are transformed into slabs by hydraulic presses that work at a pressure of 4200 tons. The intelligent pressing system creates rich colour variations, constant chromatic harmony and compactness right throughout the slab, which ensures excellent mechanical characteristics even in large sizes. The slabs are then pre-polished with computerised equipment with micrometric adjustment that reveals the veins and the colours within the matter.
At this stage, the slab is fired in kilns that measure over 120 meters in length, where the firing curve is carefully controlled to reach a temperature of 1300 °C. In this way the vitrification is even right through the full body to form a new matter with exceptional characteristics of hardness and compactness. When the slabs cool down, they are ground and squared off mechanically to perfect their geometrical shape and to obtain one unique production size.
The honing and mirror polishing processes are carried out with a purely mechanical action without using lead or other chemical substances.
FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti exploits computerised electronic equipment to meticulously control the parameters of flatness, orthogonality and gauge of the slabs, which are much stricter than those imposed by international standards. The control and automation systems continue also in the packaging phase and in the management of the stocks and orders. All this is done to ensure maximum efficiency and quality which, by safeguarding nature and the work environment, are integral part of the company philosophy of FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti.

All the products manufactured by FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti are industrialised and put on the market exclusively after they have passed the tests requested by international standards and absolutely comply with the quality specifications requested.
All the necessary tests are carried out in-house but also by independent laboratories that are qualified and authorised to issue the certifications of the product, which are indispensable to guarantee the high quality of the manufactured slabs of Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti and so that they can be commercialised right around the world.
