Sustainable architecture.

“ […] Iris’s secret lies in the process by which its exquisitely styled high-tech ceramic products are manufactured; creating a faithful reproduction of various types of marble, stone and granite, this process combines the qualities of stone (three-dimensionality, uniqueness and workability) with the outstanding performance of the best porcelain stoneware, while meeting the strictest environmental protection standards. And no-one will ever rid Minozzi of the conviction that business and biobuilding are one and the same; as early as the Seventies, he had signs stating “economy = ecology” placed all over his factories, and that equation certainly applies today more than ever before. Reflecting this, Iris Ceramica has equipped its plants with state-of-the-art anti-pollution devices, and patented an automatic wastewater recycling system. The Group is also deservedly proud of its ANAB certification, awarded only to products that meet the criteria of bioecological architecture; Iris Ceramica is the only ceramic products company in the world to have received it. As the respected journal “Economy” – the business magazine published by Mondadori – reported on 28th May 2008, today topics such as Bioecological Architecture and Biobuilding are attracting more interest, and are of more urgent concern, than ever before. Healthy construction techniques and lifestyles, and a focus on energy saving and pollution prevention, are all aspects which FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti has prioritised in the production of its natural wall and floor coverings since its earliest days, and this commitment has been recognised.
In 2004, all FMG brand marbles, granites, stones, slates and travertines were certified as biocompatible and produced with respect for the environment by the ANAB (Italian Bioecological Architecture Association), the IBO (Austrian Institute for Bioecological Architecture) and the IBN (Institute of Building Biology + Ecology Neubeuern).
This is a major success, as FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti was Italy’s first producer of natural floor and wall coverings to receive certifications of such vital importance for the future of biobuilding.
