New urban ecologies

From 21 May to 21 June, Spazio FMG hosts New Urban Ecologies, an exhibition exploring new forms of urban and social ecology through the projects of four up-and-coming European architectural studios: Ecosistema Urbano (Madrid), NL Architects (Rotterdam), Ma0 (Rome) and Elastico (Turin-Pordenone).

The exhibition, curated by Luca Molinari, develops the theme of architecture as hope, bringer of a genuine contribution to sustainable development.
And “Hope, the Future” is one of the 3 key themes of the XXIII UIA World Congress of Architecture to be held in Turin from 28 June to 3 July, at which FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti will be main sponsor.

“Ecosistema Urbano (Madrid), NL Architects (Rotterdam), Ma0 (Rome) and Elastico (Turin-Pordenone) present four projects in which experimentation leads to a new interpretation of collective space.
Four projects which consider new urban forms of aggregation, capable of working on several dimensions. First of these is the environmental dimension, with its awareness of saving and innovation in the use of space and resources.
With New Urban Ecologies we are launching a more complex, broader way of interpreting the word “ecology” for the city of tomorrow”, comments Luca Molinari, architect and critic, curator of Spazio FMG per l’Architettura.

To offer us fresh outlooks and a new way of conceiving the future of the near future, the exhibition presents the designs for an ecoboulevard in the suburbs of Madrid (Ecosistema Urbano), a street/landscape in Rotterdam open to new communities and young people (NL Architects), new urban and residential buildings at Almere in Holland (Ma0), and the creation of public areas for the market and public events at Budola (Elastico).

Spazio FMG is intended as a meeting-point and the venue for exchange of ideas between architects, students and architecture and design enthusiasts.
